Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers stated they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.

An important official said the attack rendered him without words and had to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
